Instrumental Teaching

Max and Sarah both work as instrumental teachers, teaching from their home just outside Skibbereen town. Max qualified as a Science teacher in London in 1971 and starting teaching guitar as a peripatetic teacher 8 years later. He moved to Ireland in 2001 and started his teaching practice here and has been teaching ever since. Sarah started teaching guitar, piano, keyboard and singing just after qualifying with her Masters in Community Music in 2000. She taught piano for two years with The City Music College in Cork while also teaching privately both in Skibbereen and Cork city. In 2006 she moved back to Skibbereen and started teaching with Max, together developing a teaching practice that has been growing in size and reputation ever since. As well as teaching grade exams, Sarah and Max also teach popular songs and prepare students for the Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Practicals. They are available to teach piano, guitar, keyboard, bass, singing, tin whistle and music theory.

For the past 2 years Sarah and Max have been volunteering in the Gaelscoil in Skibbereen where their 2 boys go to school. They run a guitar class once a week, Sarah runs a choir within the school and is also employed to teach tin whistle to all the students from 1st class to 6th class. 1. Hi Max and Sarah!
I’m looking for guitar lessons at the moment. I got a number for Max from the guitar shop in Clon but I misplaced it.
My schedule is pretty free for the next few months so if you could pop me an e-mail to let me know if it’s possible to get lessons that would be great!

    All the best
    Denis
